Abstract
The present disclosure provides a composition containing an iridium complex represented by general formula (1) below and a halogen atom. The content of the halogen atom is less than 5 ppm. In general formula (1), R8 to R20 are each a hydrogen atom or a substituent. R14 is an electron-withdrawing substituent having a Hammett constant σm of 0.3 or more, and R1 to R7 are each a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.

A composition comprising:
- an iridium complex represented by general formula (1) below;
- and
- a halogen atom,
- wherein a content of the halogen atom is less than 5 ppm,
- where, in general formula (1), R8 to R20 are each independently selected from a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy group, a cyano group, and a silyl group,
- provided that R14 is an electron-withdrawing substituent having a Hammett constant cam of 0.3 or more, and R1 to R7 are each a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
