Abstract
A composite structure includes a concrete matrix and a fiber embedded in the concrete matrix. The fiber includes steel. A surface of the fiber has a series of striations. The series of striations are arranged in a striation pattern.
Claims15
A composite structure comprising:
- a concrete matrix comprising ultrahigh performance concrete;
- and
- a fiber embedded in the concrete matrix, the fiber comprising steel;
- wherein a surface of the fiber has a series of striations, the series of striations being arranged in a striation pattern;
- wherein each striation of the series of striations has a depth less than a length of the striation, the series of striations being configured to increase ductility of the concrete matrix;
- and
- wherein the fiber has a length of 19 mm or less, has a diameter falling in a range from 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm, and is not mechanically deformed.
