Abstract
A cooler is provided which has various improvements. The cooler may be a passive cooler or may be actively cooled for providing desirable cooling effects. The cooler may include an accessory system, for example, with bottle or can holders or a post holder which utilizes the weight of the cooler to support a sunshade. The accessory system may be positioned in various locations of the cooler, one location being in a recess which is utilized to open the cooler lid. The smart cooler may also comprise a cushion assembly which may be placed on an upper surface of the lid and may have straps to retain the cushion on the lid. The lid may be formed to accept and retain a cushion retaining feature so that the cushion does not excessively move from the top surface of the lid.
Claims10
A cooler with accessory system, comprising:
- a cooler base and a cooler lid, said cooler lid being movable relative to said cooler base, said base having an upper opening defining a basin therein and said lid closing or opening access to said base;
- a catch disposed on a surface of said base;
- an aperture positioned near a periphery of said lid in an upwardly facing surface of said lid, said aperture receiving a latch strap through said upwardly facing surface, said latch strap having a latch base at an upper end thereof and a catch aperture in said latch strap;
- said catch aperture positioned in front of said catch and capable of engagement when said lid is closed;
- a recess formed at an upper edge of said base;
- a slot formed at lateral ends and a lower edge of said recess, an upper end of said slot being blocked when said lid is closed;
- an accessory mount of an accessory removably positioned in said recess and said slots.
A cooler with accessory system, comprising:
- a base and one or more upstanding walls extending from said base;
- an upper end of said walls defining an opening into said base,
- a lid pivotally connected to said base, said opening of said base being closed or opened by said lid;
- a recess formed near an interface of an outer surface and an upper edge of one of said walls;
- an aperture formed in an upper surface of said lid on each of two sides of said recess and near a perimeter edge of said lid;
- a latch strap comprising a latch base and a latch aperture, said latch strap having said latch base positioned in said aperture formed in said lid, said latch strap extending through said lid, said latch aperture disposed at a catch of said base to retain said lid closed;
- said catch formed on one of said walls of said base, said catch disposed beneath each of said apertures of said lid;
- a slot formed around a perimeter of said recess;
- an accessory mount removably positioned in said recess and said slot, said accessory mount having an accessory thereon.
