Abstract
A sheath valve housing including: an input port disposed on a proximal side of the sheath valve housing; an output port disposed on a distal side of the sheath valve housing, the input port and output port defining a longitudinal axis extending therethrough; a chamber disposed within the sheath valve housing between the input port and the output port and centered on the longitudinal axis, a catheter pathway being defined within the sheath valve housing through the chamber between the input port and the output port; and a plurality of ribs disposed about the chamber so that a member is aligned with the longitudinal axis upon insertion into the chamber.
Claims16
A sheath valve housing comprising:
- an input port disposed on a proximal side of the sheath valve housing;
- an output port disposed on a distal side of the sheath valve housing, the input port and output port defining a longitudinal axis extending therethrough;
- a chamber disposed within the sheath valve housing between the input port and the output port and centered on the longitudinal axis, the chamber being at least partially defined by an inner surface of the sheath valve housing that faces towards the longitudinal axis, a catheter pathway being defined within the sheath valve housing through the chamber between the input port and the output port;
- and
- a plurality of ribs (i) disposed about the chamber on the inner surface, (ii) protruding inwardly into the chamber toward the longitudinal axis, and (iii) configured such that, when a member is inserted through the catheter pathway and into the chamber, the member is aligned with the longitudinal axis upon insertion into the chamber, at least one of the ribs of the plurality of ribs including at least one cutout, each cutout of a respective rib forming a channel in the respective rib to permit fluid communication around the respective rib within the chamber.
A sheath valve housing comprising:
- an input port disposed on a proximal side of the sheath valve housing,
- an output port disposed on a distal side of the sheath valve housing, the output port and input port defining a longitudinal axis extending therethrough;
- a chamber disposed within the sheath valve housing between the input port and the output port, the chamber being at least partially defined by an inner surface of sheath valve housing that faces towards the longitudinal axis, a catheter pathway being aligned with the longitudinal axis and defined within the sheath valve housing through the chamber between the input port and the output port;
- a plurality of ribs (i) disposed about the chamber on the inner surface and (ii) protruding inwardly into the chamber toward the longitudinal axis, at least one of the rib of the plurality of ribs including at least one cutout, each cutout of a respective rib forming a channel in the respective rib to permit fluid communication around the respective rib within the chamber;
- and
- an aspiration port connected to the chamber, the channel of each cutout creating a fluid pathway on a perimeter of the chamber to the aspiration port.
A method of use of a sheath valve housing, the method comprising:
- providing a sheath valve housing comprising:
- an input port disposed on a proximal side of the sheath valve housing,
- an output port disposed on a distal side of the sheath valve housing, the output port and input port defining a longitudinal axis extending therethrough;
- a chamber disposed within the sheath valve housing between the input port and the output port, the chamber being at least partially defined by an inner surface of sheath valve housing that faces towards the longitudinal axis, a catheter pathway being aligned with the longitudinal axis and defined within the sheath valve housing through the chamber between the input port and the output port;
- a plurality of ribs (i) disposed about the chamber and protruding inwardly into the chamber toward the longitudinal axis, at least one rib of the plurality of ribs including at least one cutout that forms a channel in the at least one rib;
- and
- an aspiration port connected to the chamber;
- attaching the sheath valve housing to a sheath;
- inserting a catheter through the catheter pathway via the input port such that the catheter is centered on the longitudinal axis by the plurality of ribs in the chamber;
- and
- aspirating, via the aspiration port, liquid and gas from the chamber such that the liquid and gas flow through the at least one cutout along a fluid pathway on a perimeter of the chamber to the aspiration port.
