Patient interface for respiratory therapy

A method of apparatus for delivery of a flow of breathable gas to a patient comprising:

• generating control signals with one or more controllers to operate therapy delivery apparatus comprising one or more flow generators to produce a flow of breathable gas for a patient's airways via a patient interface apparatus comprising a frame including a plenum chamber, the plenum chamber comprising an external side and an internal side, the internal side configured to provide at least a portion of a space for the patient's nose and mouth when worn in use for pneumatically coupling with the patient's nose and mouth, the plenum chamber adapted with first and second connection ports at the external side of the plenum chamber for coupling with the therapy delivery apparatus to provide, respectively, a first therapy flow inlet into the plenum chamber from the therapy delivery apparatus and a second therapy flow inlet into the plenum chamber from the therapy apparatus, the frame including at least one flow director within the plenum chamber, the at least one flow director configured to direct a gas flow at a naris of a user via an opening end of the at least one flow director, wherein the at least one flow director is within the internal side of the plenum chamber and configured to, in use, release the directed gas flow from at least one flow director to the naris of the user, wherein the opening end is within the internal side of the plenum chamber, wherein the at least one flow director is in fluid communication with at least one connection port of the first and second connection ports so that the at least one connection port provides the second therapy flow inlet for passing therapy flow for inspiration into the at least one flow director and then into the plenum chamber from the opening end, and wherein the at least one flow director is connected to the plenum chamber by a hollow spherical joint;
• measuring a flow rate of the breathable gas with a flow rate sensor;
• and
• measuring a pressure of the breathable gas with a pressure sensor;
• wherein the one or more controllers controls a pressure therapy via a delivery conduit to the plenum chamber so that the measured pressure meets a target pressure in a pressure control loop, and
• wherein the one or more controller controls a flow therapy to the at least one flow director.
