Abstract
The invention relates to an immunogenic formulation containing one or more modified recombinant strains of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), in a concentration between 104-109 bacteria, where each BCG strain expresses at least one protein or immunogenic fragment of SARS-CoV-2, in a pharmaceutically acceptable saline buffer, where this formulation serves to prepare vaccines to prevent, treat or attenuate SARS-CoV-2 infections.
Claims13
An immunogenic formulation conferring protection against COVID-19, comprising:
- (a) a mixture of attenuated recombinant strains of Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), wherein the mixture comprises:
- a recombinant Mycobacterium bovis BCG strain expressing an N protein of a SARS-CoV-2 virus or an immunogenic fragment thereof,
- a recombinant Mycobacterium bovis BCG strain expressing an E protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus or an immunogenic fragment thereof,
- a recombinant Mycobacterium bovis BCG strain expressing an M protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus or an immunogenic fragment thereof, and
- a recombinant Mycobacterium bovis BCG strain expressing an S protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus or an immunogenic fragment thereof,
- wherein each recombinant Mycobacterium bovis BCG strain is included in the immunogenic formulation in an amount from 104 to 109 CFU per dose;
- and
- (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable saline buffer solution.
