A subject is allowed to ingest a composition containing a lactic acid bacterium belonging to the genus Lactobacillus to improve inflammation in the brain tissue of the subject.

A method of suppressing inflammation in a brain tissue of a subject, comprising allowing the subject to ingest an effective amount of a lactic acid bacterium belonging to Lactobacillus plantarum, wherein the lactic acid bacterium has a 16S rRNA gene having a similarity of 99% or more to the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:
