Slim implant device for a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy

An implant device for a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, comprising:

• an epiphyseal tibial plate section comprising at least three screw holes, a bone-contacting surface and an upper surface, each screw hole running between the bone-contacting and upper surfaces and configured to accept a bone screw to secure the epiphyseal plate section to an epiphyseal tibial bone fragment;
• a metaphyseal tibial plate section comprising at least three screw holes, a bone-contacting surface and an upper surface, each screw hole running between the bone-contacting and upper surfaces and configured to accept a bone screw to secure the metaphyseal plate section to a metaphyseal tibial bone fragment;
• and
• a ligament joining the tibial plate sections and configured to span a curvilinear tibial cut from a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, wherein the curvilinear cut separates the epiphyseal and metaphyseal tibial bone fragments,
• wherein each of the metaphyseal and epiphyseal tibial plate sections and the ligament comprises an implant grade alloy,
• wherein the epiphyseal tibial plate section comprises a curvilinear portion and a proximal portion, the curvilinear portion oriented perpendicular to the ligament and comprising a cut-adjacent curvilinear surface configured to be positioned adjacent to the curvilinear cut, and the proximal portion is perpendicular and extending proximally to the curvilinear portion,
• wherein the metaphyseal tibial plate section comprises an elongated distal portion and a cranial portion, the cranial portion comprising a cut-adjacent curvilinear surface configured to be positioned adjacent to the curvilinear cut and oriented cranially relative to the distal portion and perpendicular to the ligament, and the distal portion extending distally from the cranial portion, and
• further wherein each of the tibial plate sections and the ligament comprises a width that is substantially uniform, and each of the width of the ligament and a width of the proximal portion is greater than a width of each of the curvilinear portion, the elongated distal portion and the cranial portion.

An implant device for a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, comprising:

• an epiphyseal tibial plate section comprising at least three screw holes, a bone-contacting surface and an upper surface, each screw hole running between the bone-contacting and upper surfaces and configured to accept a bone screw to secure the epiphyseal plate section to an epiphyseal tibial bone fragment;
• a metaphyseal tibial plate section comprising at least three screw holes, a bone-contacting surface and an upper surface, each screw hole running between the bone-contacting and upper surfaces and configured to accept a bone screw to secure the metaphyseal plate section to a metaphyseal tibial bone fragment;
• and
• a ligament joining the tibial plate sections and configured to span a curvilinear tibial cut from a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, wherein the curvilinear cut separates the epiphyseal and metaphyseal tibial bone fragments,
• wherein each of the metaphyseal and epiphyseal tibial plate sections and the ligament comprises an implant grade alloy,
• wherein the epiphyseal tibial plate section comprises a curvilinear portion and a proximal portion, the curvilinear portion oriented perpendicular to the ligament and comprising a cut-adjacent curvilinear surface configured to be positioned adjacent to the curvilinear cut, and the proximal portion is perpendicular and extending proximally to the curvilinear portion,
• wherein the metaphyseal tibial plate section comprises an elongated distal portion and a cranial portion, the cranial portion comprising a cut-adjacent curvilinear surface configured to be positioned adjacent to the curvilinear cut and oriented cranially to the distal portion and perpendicular to the ligament, and the distal portion extending distally from the cranial portion,
• wherein each of the tibial plate sections and the ligament comprises a width that is substantially uniform, and each of the width of the ligament and a width of the proximal portion is greater than a width of each of the curvilinear portion, the elongated distal portion and the cranial portion, and
• further wherein the cranial portion of the metaphyseal tibial plate section has at least two screw holes and comprises a metaphyseal cranial segment extending cranially and perpendicular to the ligament and a metaphyseal caudal segment extending caudally and perpendicular to the ligament.
