Abstract
Systems and methods for resecting a knee joint using a navigated pin guide driver system. The navigated pin guide driver system communicates with a navigation system to aid a user in placing cut block pins into the knee joint. The navigated pin guide driver system may include a handle, a reference element that electronically communicates with the navigation system, one or more pin guide tubes that may correspond to one or more cut blocks, and a distal tip that is configured to attach to the bone.
Claims7
A fixation device for securing a navigation array to a bony structure for use in a robotic-assisted surgery, comprising:
- a trocar;
- a cortical pin, having a first longitudinal axis, configured to be inserted into the trocar;
- a dowel configured to be attached to the cortical pin, wherein the dowel is configured to prevent rotation of the cortical pin in the bony structure, and wherein a distal end of the dowel defines a distal end of the fixation device in an open configuration;
- and
- a navigation array configured to be removably attached to the cortical pin, wherein the navigation array has a second longitudinal axis that is offset from the first longitudinal axis, and wherein the dowel includes first and second wing structures forming a pin, each wing structure having a series of flexible hinge joints, the first and second wing structures extending proximally and radially outwardly from each other from the distal end of the dowel and each extended wing structure having a proximal end in which the entire length from the distal end of the dowel to the proximal end of the each extended wing structure is not in contact with the other extended wing structure;
- wherein the dowel is opened and closed by pulling or releasing a cable.
A fixation device for securing a navigation array to a bony structure for use in a robotic-assisted surgery, comprising:
- a trocar;
- a navigation array;
- a single cortical pin configured to be inserted into the trocar and into a bone structure and adapted to be removably attach to the navigation array;
- an anti-rotation device attached to a distal portion of the cortical pin and configured to prevent rotation of the inserted cortical pin in the bony structure, the anti-rotation device having first and second wing structures, each wing structure having a series of hinge joints that are interconnected to each other and deployable into an open position such that the first and second wing structures extend proximally and radially outwardly from each other from a distal end of the anti-rotation device and each extended wing structure having a proximal end in which the entire length from the distal end of the anti-rotation device to the proximal end of the each extended wing structure is not in contact with the other extended wing structure.
