Abstract
Systems and methods include capturing sound using an ear device having one or more device settings to control device operations; amplifying sound using an amplifier with gain and amplitude controls for a plurality of frequencies; providing a hearing test over the plurality of frequencies and adjusting the amplifiers for hearing; and applying a learning machine to automatically adjust one or more device settings.

A method, comprising:
- capturing sound using an ear device having one or more device settings including slope control, per-frequency-band control, noise reduction setting to control device operations;
- amplifying sound using an amplifier with gain and amplitude controls for a plurality of frequencies;
- providing a hearing test over the plurality of frequencies and adjusting the amplifiers for hearing;
- and
- operating a learning machine in the device to automatically adjust one or more device aural settings by identifying an aural environment based on ambient sound or external context data, and updating controls at aural frequencies to optimize hearing for the identified environment.
