Automated fluid dispenser(s) and corresponding methods for adaptive fluid dispensing

A dispenser comprising:

• a reservoir configured to store a fluid;
• a dispensing mechanism configured to dispense a portion of the fluid from the reservoir through an outlet;
• a first sensor configured to sense an object;
• a second sensor configured to sense the object, wherein the second sensor is a type of sensor that is different than the first sensor;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• determine that the first sensor is in an unreliable state;
• and
• in an instance in which the first sensor is determined to be in the unreliable state, cause the dispensing mechanism to dispense the portion of the fluid based on detection of the object by the second sensor and not based on detection of the object by the first sensor.

A method for dispensing, the method comprising:

• determining whether a first sensor is in a reliable state or an unreliable state;
• in response to determining that the first sensor is in the reliable state, initiating a dispensing mechanism to dispense a portion of a fluid based on sensing an object by the first sensor and not a second sensor;
• and
• in response to determining that the first sensor is in the unreliable state, initiating the dispensing mechanism to dispense the portion of the fluid based on sensing the object by the second sensor and not the first sensor,
• wherein the first sensor and the second sensor are different.

A dispenser comprising:

• a reservoir configured to house a fluid;
• a dispensing mechanism configured to dispense a portion of the fluid from the reservoir through an outlet;
• a first sensor configured to sense a presence of an object;
• a second sensor positioned proximate the outlet and configured to sense the presence of the object, wherein the second sensor is a type of sensor that is different than the first sensor;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• operate according to a first state by using the first sensor to determine whether to initiate a dispense of the portion of the fluid;
• operate according to a second state by using the second sensor to determine whether to initiate a dispense of the portion of the fluid;
• and
• determine that the first sensor is in an unreliable state and cause operation according to the second state.
