## Abstract

A shelf safety pin assembly for a cabinet comprising at least one removable shelf is disclosed. The safety pin assembly includes a bracket, a safety pin, a spring, and a safety pin release. The safety pin movably coupled to the bracket and includes an engagement end having a rear-facing stopping surface and a forward-facing camming surface. The spring is configured to bias the engagement end towards a stopping structure. A cabinet including a frame, at least one removable shelf configured to be mounted within the frame, and the shelf safety pin assembly is also disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A shelf safety pin assembly for a cabinet comprising at least one removable shelf, the shelf safety pin assembly comprising:
a bracket having a longitudinal bore formed therein, the bore extending in a longitudinal direction;
a safety pin extending in the longitudinal direction from a handle end to an engagement end having a rear-facing stopping surface and a forward-facing camming surface,
wherein the safety pin is coupled to the bracket and is moveable in the longitudinal direction with respect to the bracket, and
wherein a guide pin is fixed to the safety pin and extends radially outward from the safety pin through the longitudinal bore in the bracket, thereby preventing rotation of the safety pin, including the rear-facing stopping surface and the forward-facing camming surface; and
a spring configured to bias the safety pin in the longitudinal direction.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The shelf safety pin assembly of claim 1, wherein the bracket is configured to be mounted to the cabinet, and the at least one removable shelf comprises a stopping structure toward which the spring is configured to bias the safety pin.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The shelf safety pin assembly of claim 2, wherein the stopping structure comprises at least a recess in the at least one removable shelf.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The shelf safety pin assembly of claim 3, wherein the recess is shaped to complement a shape of the safety pin.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The shelf safety pin assembly of claim 4, wherein the recess includes a D-shaped profile.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The shelf safety pin assembly of claim 1, wherein the handle end of the safety pin comprises a handle extension extending an angle relative to the longitudinal direction.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The shelf safety pin assembly of claim 1, wherein the safety pin includes an edge that is at least one of beveled, tapered, or chamfered, and wherein the edge defines the camming surface.

### Claim 8

A cabinet comprising:
a frame;
at least one removable shelf configured to be mounted within the frame; and
at least one shelf safety pin assembly comprising:
a bracket having a longitudinal bore formed therein, the bore extending in a longitudinal direction;
a safety pin extending in the longitudinal direction from a handle end to an engagement end having a rear-facing stopping surface and a forward-facing camming surface,
wherein the safety pin is coupled to the bracket and is moveable in the longitudinal direction with respect to the bracket, and
wherein a guide pin is fixed to the safety pin and extends radially outward from the safety pin through the longitudinal bore in the bracket, thereby preventing rotation of the safety pin, including the rear-facing stopping surface and the forward-facing camming surface; and
a spring configured to bias the safety pin in the longitudinal direction.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The cabinet of claim 8, wherein the bracket is configured to be mounted to the cabinet, and the at least one removable shelf comprises a stopping structure toward which the spring is configured to bias the safety pin.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The cabinet of claim 9, wherein the stopping structure comprises at least a recess in the at least one removable shelf.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The cabinet of claim 10, wherein the recess is shaped to complement a shape of the safety pin.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The cabinet of claim 11, wherein the recess includes a D-shaped profile.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The cabinet of claim 8, wherein the handle end of the safety pin comprises a handle extension extending at an angle relative to the longitudinal direction.
