Abstract
An article to be worn on or around the head for absorbing and/or wicking perspiration. The article may include an elongated body portion and one or more extension features extending from the body portion for guiding absorption and/or evaporation of moisture. The article may be formed of a larger material adapted to provide greater coverage to a wearer's head. The article (10) is formed of: an interior layer (14) adapted to contact a source of moisture; a vertically lapped fibrous layer (12); and an exterior layer (16); wherein the fibrous layer (12) is sandwiched between the interior layer (14) and the exterior layer (16).
Claims20
An article comprising:
- a multilayered material for guiding absorption and/or evaporation of moisture;
- wherein the article is formed of:
- a. an interior layer adapted to contact a source of moisture, wherein the source of moisture is a head, scalp, face, forehead, or a combination thereof;
- b. a vertically lapped fibrous layer;
- and
- c. an air permeable exterior layer;
- wherein the vertically lapped fibrous layer is sandwiched between the interior layer and the exterior layer;
- wherein each layer of the article is permeable;
- wherein each edge of the article is compressed and heat sealed to bond two or more of the layers together;
- wherein the vertically lapped fibrous layer has a gradient density structure,
- wherein through a thickness of the vertically lapped fibrous layer, the density increases from one surface to an opposing surface;
- wherein the article is adapted to absorb and/or wick away perspiration;
- wherein the article is adapted to provide cushioning;
- wherein the article is reusable;
- and
- wherein the article is adapted to be worn as headwear, worn with headwear, and/or inserted into headwear.
An article comprising:
- a multilayered material for guiding absorption and/or evaporation of moisture;
- wherein the article is formed of:
- a. an interior layer adapted to contact a source of moisture, wherein the source of moisture is a head, scalp, face, forehead, or a combination thereof;
- b. a vertically lapped fibrous layer, wherein the vertically lapped fibrous layer has a gradient density structure, wherein through a thickness of the vertically lapped fibrous layer, the density increases from one surface to the opposing surface;
- and
- c. an exterior layer;
- wherein each layer of the article is breathable;
- wherein the article is adapted to be worn with and/or inserted into a helmet having one or more air vents;
- wherein the article includes an elongated body portion and one or more extension features extending from the body portion for guiding wicking, absorption, and/or evaporation of moisture;
- wherein the one or more extension features are adapted to extend toward a crown of the head of a wearer;
- wherein the one or more extension features are adapted to be positioned at or near at least one of the one or more air vents of the helmet;
- wherein the vertically lapped fibrous layer is sandwiched between the interior layer and the exterior layer;
- wherein each edge of the article is compressed and heat sealed to bond the layers together and/or encapsulate the vertically lapped fibrous layer;
- and
- wherein the article is reusable.
