Abstract
A method and apparatus for bandwidth part switching for a multicast session in a wireless communication system is provided. A wireless device receives a paging in the initial BWP, wherein the paging includes a multicast session identity (ID) for the multicast session. The wireless device establishes and/or resumes a radio resource control (RRC) connection in the initial BWP as an active BWP. The wireless device switches autonomously the active BWP from the initial BWP to the specific BWP.
Claims17
A method comprising:
- joining, by a wireless device, a multicast session,
- wherein the multicast session is provided in a specific bandwidth part;
- entering, by the wireless device, a radio resource control idle state or a radio resource control inactive state;
- monitoring, by the wireless device, an initial bandwidth part upon entering the radio resource control idle state or the radio resource control inactive state;
- receiving, by the wireless device, a paging including a multicast session identity for the multicast session,
- wherein the paging is transmitted within the initial bandwidth part;
- entering, by the wireless device, a radio resource control connected state based on the initial bandwidth part;
- and
- performing, by the wireless device, an autonomous bandwidth part switching to receive the multicast session by activating the specific bandwidth part and deactivating the initial bandwidth part upon entering the radio resource control connected state.

A wireless device comprising:
- a transceiver;
- a memory;
- and
- at least one processor operatively coupled to the transceiver and the memory, and configured to perform operations, the operations comprising:
- joining a multicast session,
- wherein the multicast session is provided in a specific bandwidth part;
- entering a radio resource control idle state or a radio resource control inactive state;
- monitoring an initial bandwidth part upon entering the radio resource control idle state or the radio resource control inactive state;
- receiving a paging including a multicast session identity for the multicast session,
- wherein the paging is transmitted within the initial bandwidth part;
- entering a radio resource control connected state based on the initial bandwidth part;
- and
- performing an autonomous bandwidth part switching to receive the multicast session by activating the specific bandwidth part and deactivating the initial bandwidth part upon entering the radio resource control connected state.
