Multi-link channel assessment

A method, comprising:

• transmitting, by a device, probe packets as synchronous transmissions on multiple links during a transmission opportunity (TXOP), wherein:
• the probe packets correspond to different transmission parameters;
• receiving, by the device responsive to transmitting the probe packets, feedback on the multiple links in tandem with the synchronous transmissions during the TXOP;
• and
• transmitting, by the device, over a selected link of the multiple links based on the feedback, another probe packet with an asynchronous transmission on the selected link.

A system, comprising:

• a transceiver of a multi-link device (MLD);
• a processor coupled to the transceiver;
• and
• memory coupled to the processor, the memory storing non-transitory instructions that are executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
• transmit, by the MLD via the transceiver during a transmission opportunity (TXOP), probe packets with synchronous transmissions on multiple links;
• receive, by the MLD via the transceiver responsive to transmitting the probe packets, feedback on the multiple links during the TXOP;
• communicate, by the MLD via the transceiver, over a selected link of the multiple links based on the feedback;
• select, by the MLD during the TXOP, a transmission parameter set for transmissions on the selected link based on the feedback;
• and
• transmit, by the MLD during the TXOP, data with an asynchronous transmission on the selected link.
