Method for increasing accuracy of position estimation, system, and storage medium

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program code that, when executed by a computer system, causes the computer system to perform operations comprising:

• receiving, at a user equipment, configuration data of a downlink positioning reference signal resource set, wherein the configuration data indicates an association between a first downlink positioning reference signal resource and a second downlink positioning reference signal resource;
• obtaining a first signal measurement of the first downlink positioning reference signal resource and a second signal measurement of the second downlink positioning reference signal resource;
• determining a first value based on the first signal measurement;
• and
• determining a second value based on the second signal measurement;
• wherein the association between the first downlink positioning reference signal resource and the second downlink positioning reference signal resource indicated by the configuration data causes the user equipment to report the second value to a transmission/reception point in response to a determination that the user equipment should report the first value to the transmission/reception point, and
• if the user equipment
• transmits the first value, the user equipment shall also transmit the second value to a transmission/reception point based on the association between the first downlink positioning reference signal resource and the second downlink positioning reference signal resource.

A method for increasing an accuracy of position estimation, performed by a transmission/reception point and comprising:

• transmitting, to a user equipment, configuration data of a downlink positioning reference signal resource set, wherein the configuration data indicates an association between a first downlink positioning reference signal resource and a second downlink positioning reference signal resource, the first downlink positioning reference signal resource is used for the user equipment to obtain a first reference signal received power measurement of the first downlink positioning reference signal resource, and the second downlink positioning reference signal resource is used for the user equipment to obtain a second reference signal received power measurement of the second downlink positioning reference signal resource;
• wherein the association between the first downlink positioning reference signal resource and the second downlink positioning reference signal resource indicated by the configuration data causes the user equipment to report the second reference signal received power measurement of the second downlink positioning reference signal resource to the transmission/reception point in response to a determination that the user equipment should report the first reference signal received power measurement of the first downlink positioning reference signal resource to the transmission/reception point, and
• if the transmission/reception point receives the first reference signal received power measurement, the transmission/reception point shall also receive the second reference signal received power measurement from the user equipment based on the association between the first downlink positioning reference signal resource and the second downlink positioning reference signal resource.
