Abstract
Systems and methods described herein improve a customer experience by enabling a user equipment (UE) device to accurately display a premium network icon based on network signaling. A network device stores configuration thresholds for supporting a premium cellular service and monitors network conditions against the configuration thresholds. When the network conditions meet at least one of the configuration thresholds, the network device provides to the UE device a signal for the UE device to present a premium network icon to a user.
Claims20
A network device comprising:
- one or more processors configured to:
- store configuration thresholds for supporting a premium cellular service;
- monitor network conditions against the configuration thresholds;
- and
- in response to determining that the network conditions meet at least one of the configuration thresholds, provide to a user equipment (UE) device a signal for the UE device to present, when the UE device is in an idle state, a premium network icon that indicates availability of the premium cellular service,
- wherein the signal includes a dummy public land mobile network identifier (PLMN ID) broadcast in a system information block (SIB).
A method performed by a network device, the method comprising:
- storing, in the network device, configuration thresholds for supporting a premium cellular service;
- monitoring, by the network device, network conditions against the configuration thresholds;
- and
- providing, by the network device, to a user equipment (UE) device a signal for the UE device to present, when the UE device is in an idle state, a premium network icon when the network conditions meet at least one of the configuration thresholds, wherein the premium network icon indicates availability of the premium cellular service,
- wherein the signal includes a dummy public land mobile network identifier (PLMN ID) broadcast in a system information block (SIB).
A non-transitory, computer-readable storage media storing instructions, which, when executed by one or more processors of a network device, cause the network device to:
- store configuration thresholds for supporting a premium cellular service;
- monitor network conditions against the configuration thresholds;
- and
- when the network conditions meet at least one of the configuration thresholds, provide to a user equipment (UE) device a signal for the UE device to present, when the UE device is in an idle state, a premium network icon that indicates availability of the premium cellular service,
- wherein the signal includes a dummy public land mobile network identifier (PLMN ID) broadcast in a system information block (SIB).
