Abstract
A computing system may cause transmission of a prompt, formatted as a short message service (SMS) message, to an endpoint device, the prompt indicating an ability to control one or more components a location remote from the computing system. The computing system may receive text of a responsive SMS message sent by the endpoint device and determine that the text of the responsive SMS message represents a request to control the one or more components. The computing system may cause the one or more components to change state based at least in part on the text of the responsive SMS message representing the request to control the one or more components.
Claims18
A method, comprising:
- causing, by a computing system, transmission of a prompt, formatted as a short message service (SMS) message, to an endpoint device, the prompt indicating an ability to control at least one component at a location remote from the computing system;
- storing, by the computing system, a record of the prompt in a data store, the record including an identifier of the endpoint device;
- receiving, by the computing system, text of a responsive SMS message sent by the endpoint device;
- determining, by the computing system, that the responsive SMS message included the identifier;
- determining, by the computing system, that the text of the responsive SMS message represents a request to control the at least one component;
- and
- causing, by the computing system, the at least one component to change state based at least in part on (i) the record and the responsive SMS message both including the identifier, and (ii) the text of the responsive SMS message representing the request to control the at least one component.
A computing system, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- one or more computer-readable mediums encoded with instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing system to:
- cause transmission of a prompt, formatted as a short message service (SMS) message, to an endpoint device, the prompt indicating an ability to control at least one component at a location remote from the computing system;
- store a record of the prompt in a data store, the record including an identifier of the endpoint device;
- receive text of a responsive SMS message sent by the endpoint device;
- determine that the responsive SMS message included the identifier;
- determine that the text of the responsive SMS message represents a request to control the at least one component;
- and
- cause the at least one component to change state based at least in part on (i) the record and the responsive SMS message both including the identifier, and (ii) the text of the responsive SMS message representing the request to control the at least one component.
