Method and system for compounding verification

A method performed by a pharmaceutical compounding device for verifying a compounding operation, the method comprising:

• capturing an image of an object placed on a scale plate using a visible light camera;
• accessing a plurality of trained machine learning models stored in a memory of the pharmaceutical compounding device;
• determining an identification of the object based at least in part on the image of the object using machine learning techniques using at least a first one of the plurality of trained machine learning models;
• determining, based at least in part on analysis of the image utilizing one or more of the trained machine learning models, a vessel type associated with the object;
• determining, based at least in part on the analysis of the image utilizing the one or more of the trained machine learning models, a quantity of the object;
• selecting, based at least in part on the vessel type and the quantity of the object, a workflow from multiple potential compounding workflows to compound a medication associated with the object;
• upon determining the identification of the object and selection of the workflow, generating a set of steps of the workflow to compound the medication associated with the object;
• and
• generating a notification on an electronic display based on the workflow.

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that when executed by a processor of a pharmaceutical compounding device performs operations comprising:

• capturing an image of an object placed on a scale plate using a visible light camera;
• accessing a plurality of trained machine learning models stored in a memory of the pharmaceutical compounding device;
• determining an identification of the object based at least in part on the image of the object using machine learning techniques using at least a first one of the plurality of trained machine learning models;
• determining, based at least in part on analysis of the image utilizing one or more of the trained machine learning models, a vessel type associated with the object;
• determining, based at least in part on the analysis of the image utilizing the one or more of the trained machine learning models, a quantity of the object;
• selecting, based at least in part on the vessel type and the quantity of the object, a workflow from multiple potential compounding workflows to compound a medication associated with the object;
• upon determining the identification of the object and selection of the workflow, generating a set of steps of the workflow to compound the medication associated with the object;
• and
• generating a notification on an electronic display based on the workflow.
