Abstract
The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a video bitstream comprising a plurality of blocks that includes a current block; identifying a block vector for the current block; determining a minimum-cost position in a predetermined area of a location indicated by the block vector; deriving a sub-pixel position based on the minimum-cost position; and reconstructing the current block using the sub-pixel position.
Claims18
A method of video decoding performed at a computing system having memory and one or more processors, the method comprising:
- receiving a video bitstream comprising a plurality of blocks that includes a current block;
- identifying a block vector for the current block;
- determining a minimum-cost position in a predetermined area of a location indicated by the block vector;
- deriving a sub-pixel position based on the minimum-cost position;
- and
- reconstructing the current block using the sub-pixel position, wherein the sub-pixel position is conditionally derived based on the minimum-cost position, including:
- the sub-pixel position is derived when the minimum-cost position is within a predefined distance of a boundary of the predetermined area;
- and
- the sub-pixel position is not derived when the minimum-cost position is not within the predefined distance of a boundary of the predetermined area.
A method of video encoding performed at a computing system having memory and one or more processors, the method comprising:
- receiving video data comprising a plurality of blocks that includes a current block;
- identifying a block vector for the current block;
- determining a minimum-cost position in a predetermined area of a location indicated by the block vector;
- deriving a sub-pixel position based on the minimum-cost position;
- and
- encoding the current block using the sub-pixel position, wherein the sub-pixel position is conditionally derived based on the minimum-cost position, including:
- the sub-pixel position is derived when the minimum-cost position is within a predefined distance of a boundary of the predetermined area;
- and
- the sub-pixel position is not derived when the minimum-cost position is not within the predefined distance of a boundary of the predetermined area.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a video bitstream that is generated by a video encoding method, the video encoding method comprising:
- receiving video data comprising a plurality of blocks that includes a current block;
- identifying a block vector for the current block;
- determining a minimum-cost position in a predetermined area of a location indicated by the block vector;
- deriving a sub-pixel position based on the minimum-cost position;
- and
- encoding the current block using the sub-pixel position, wherein the sub-pixel position is conditionally derived based on the minimum-cost position, including:
- the sub-pixel position is derived when the minimum-cost position is within a predefined distance of a boundary of the predetermined area;
- and
- the sub-pixel position is not derived when the minimum-cost position is not within the predefined distance of a boundary of the predetermined area.
