Processing system, and processing method

A processing method executed by a processing system performed using an edge device and a server device, the processing method comprising:

• by the edge device, processing target data and outputting a processing result of the processing target data;
• by the edge device, determining that the server device is to execute processing of the processing target data when an evaluation value for evaluating which of the edge device and the server device is to process the processing target data satisfies a condition,
• wherein the evaluation value is based on an intermediate output value of inferencing the target data, and the intermediate output value represents either one of smaller entropy or higher sparsity as compared to other intermediate output values of inferencing the target data:
• determining that the evaluation value is included in a range for determining that processing is to be executed by the edge device when the processing result of the processing target data satisfies a predetermined evaluation, and outputting the processing result of the processing target data processed in the processing, by processing circuitry;
• and
• encode, based on the determining that the server device is to execute the processing, the evaluation value as at least a part of data for transmitting to the server device;
• transmitting the encoded evaluation value as the at least the part of the data, causing the server device to execute the processing of the processing target data when it is determined in the determining that the server device is to execute the processing of the processing target data, thereby reducing an amount of data communication and further inferencing the target data with accuracy by the server device.
