Refresh of the binding tables between data-link-layer and network-layer addresses on mobility in a data center environment

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions to assist communication of a source host, which when executed by at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to:

• receive a learn notification associated with the source host moving from a first data center to a second data center, wherein a source host uses an address resolution protocol cache to send data to a destination host;
• in response to a fulfillment of a condition, determine if an address is in an end point identifier database;
• in response to the address being in the end point identifier database, perform an action related to the source host moving from the first data center to the second data center;
• in response to the address not being in the end point identifier database, determine whether the address in in a remote cache;
• and
• in response to the address being in the remote cache, log a previous location corresponding to an end point identifier and confirming a new host move.

A system to assist communication of a source host, the system comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions, which when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to:
• receive a learn notification associated with the source host moving from a first data center to a second data center, wherein a source host uses an address resolution protocol cache to send data to a destination host;
• in response to a fulfillment of a condition, determine if an address is in an end point identifier database;
• in response to the address being in the end point identifier database, perform an action related to the source host moving from the first data center to the second data center;
• in response to the address not being in the end point identifier database, determine whether the address in in a remote cache;
• and
• in response to the address being in the remote cache, log a previous location corresponding to an end point identifier and confirming a new host move.
