Binding indications for notification resiliency

A data repository, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute machine readable instructions stored in the memory to:
• receive a network function (NF) profile registration message from a NF service consumer, the NF profile registration message including binding indication information;
• receive a first NF discovery request with the NF service consumer's NF Instance ID from a NF service producer pursuant to a failed notification transmission regarding an event observed by the NF service producer;
• transmit a first NF discovery response to the NF service producer with the NF service consumer's NF profile including the binding indication information;
• receive a second NF discovery request from the NF service producer including identifying information derived from the binding indication information;
• and
• transmit a second NF discovery response to the NF service producer including a set of equivalent NF profiles identified by the identifying information allowing the NF service producer to re-transmit the failed notification transmission to an alternative NF service consumer associated with one of the set of equivalent NF profiles.

A network function (NF) service producer, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute machine readable instructions stored in the memory to:
• responsive to observing an event, transmit a NF discovery request to a network repository function (NRF) upon a notification regarding the observed event failing to reach a NF service consumer;
• receiving binding indication information as part of a NF discovery response transmitted by the NR, the binding indication information having been registered, by the NF service consumer, as part of a NF profile associated with the NF service consumer at the NRF;
• transmit a subsequent NF discovery request to the NRF including identifying information derived from the binding indication information;
• and
• receive a subsequent NF discovery response from the NRF including a set of equivalent NF profiles identified by the identifying information;
• and
• re-transmit the failed notification to an alternative NF service consumer associated with one of the set of equivalent NF profiles.
