Abstract
With the current mechanism there is no way to enforce policy based on events that occur at near-RT RIC and that could provide better control over enforcing certain policies that are meant to come into effect only under certain conditions/event. Accordingly, this disclosure discloses methods and systems for provisioning event-trigger based policies and enforcement thereof at Near-RT-RIC based on policy information sent from non-RT RIC to near-RT RIC. In some embodiments, the near-RT RIC is configured to send a list of event triggers to the non-RT RIC when the non-RT RIC sends a query policy type, and the near-RT RIC is configured to associate a trigger from the list of event triggers with a policy to be enforced at the near-RT RIC.
Claims18
A system comprising:
- a near-Real Time (RT) Radio Area Network (RAN) Intelligent controller (RIC), including a memory coupled to a processor, in communication with a non-RT RIC,
- wherein the near-RT RIC is configured to:
- send a list of event triggers to the non-RT RIC when the near-RT RIC receives a query policy types message from the non-RT RIC;
- and
- associate an event trigger from the list of event triggers with a policy to be enforced at the near-RT RIC based on a create policy types message received from the non-RT RIC.
A method of provisioning a policy by a near-Real Time (RT) Radio Area Network (RAN) Intelligent controller (RIC) based on an event trigger, comprising:
- sending a list of event triggers to a non-RT RIC in communication with the near-RT RIC when the near-RT RIC receives a query policy types message from the non-RT RIC;
- and
- associating an event trigger from the list of event triggers with a policy to be enforced at the near-RT RIC based on a create policy types message received from the non-RT RIC.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing instructions for provisioning a policy by a near-Real Time (RT) Radio Area Network (RAN) Intelligent controller (RIC) based on an event trigger, which when executed, cause a system to perform steps comprising:
- sending a list of event triggers to a non-RT RIC in communication with the near-RT RIC when the near-RT RIC receives a query policy types message from the non-RT RIC;
- and
- associating an event trigger from the list of event triggers with a policy to be enforced at the near-RT RIC based on a create policy types message received from the non-RT RIC.
The non-transitory computer-readable medium of 13, wherein the non-RT RIC associates a first event trigger from the list of event triggers with a first policy to be enforced by the near-RT RIC in the create policy types message received from the non-RT RIC, and associates a second event trigger from the list of event triggers with a second policy to be enforced by the near-RT RIC in the create policy types message.
