Abstract
A communication device in a communications network can receive an indication from a network node in the communication network indicating one of the following: that a reference signal will be present at a reference signal occasion, that a reference signal may or may not be present at a reference signal occasion, or that the reference signal will be absent at the reference signal occasion. The communication device can decode a paging message at a paging occasion following the reference signal occasion.
Claims16
A method of operating a communication device in a communications network, the method comprising:
- receiving a configuration for potential tracking reference signal occasions in a system information signal;
- receiving an indication from a network node in the communication network indicating whether a tracking reference signal (TRS) will be present at the configured reference signal occasions;
- and
- receiving a second indication of a validity timer from the network node, wherein the validity timer indicates a time duration for which the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions when the indication indicates that the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions.
A method of operating a network node in a communications network, the method comprising:
- transmitting a configuration for potential tracking reference signal occasions in a system information signal;
- determining whether to transmit a tracking reference signal (TRS) at the configured reference signal occasions;
- transmitting an indication to a communication device in the communication network, the indication indicating whether the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions;
- and
- transmitting a second indication of a validity timer, wherein the validity timer indicates a time duration for which the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions when the indication indicates that the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions.
A communication device in a communications network, the communication device comprising:
- processing circuitry;
- and
- memory coupled to the processing circuitry and having instructions stored therein that are executable by the processing circuitry to cause the communication device to perform operations to:
- receive a configuration for potential tracking reference signal occasions in a system information signal;
- receive an indication from a network node in the communication network indicating whether a tracking reference signal (TRS) will be present at the configured reference signal occasions;
- and
- receive a second indication of a validity timer from the network node, wherein the validity timer indicates a time duration for which the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions when the indication indicates that the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions.
A network node in a communications network, the network node comprising:
- processing circuitry;
- and
- memory coupled to the processing circuitry and having instructions stored therein that are executable by the processing circuitry to cause the network node to perform operations to:
- transmit a configuration for potential tracking reference signal occasions in a system information signal;
- determine whether to transmit a tracking reference signal (TRS) at a reference signal occasion;
- transmit an indication to a communication device in the communication network, the indication indicating whether the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions;
- and
- transmit a second indication of a validity timer, wherein the validity timer indicates a time duration for which the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions when the indication indicates that the TRS will be present at the configured reference signal occasions.
