Abstract
An adaptor for connecting, adapting and securing different harness protection systems includes a main body including a first portion, the first portion being a conduit harness system interface configured to be connected to a conduit harness system, and a second portion, the second portion being a wiring harness protection system interface configured to be connected to a wiring harness protection system.
Claims13
An adaptor for connecting, adapting and securing different harness protection systems, comprising:
- a main body including a first portion, wherein the first portion is a conduit harness system interface configured to be connected to a conduit harness system, and
- a second portion, wherein the second portion is a wiring harness protection system interface configured to be connected to a wiring harness protection system;
- wherein the main body includes a common central portion connecting the first portion and the second portion,
- wherein the conduit harness system interface includes a conduit harness system receiving portion forming a conduit harness system fixing portion, the conduit harness system receiving portion having a smooth radial outer surface and a smooth internal surface, wherein the conduit harness system interface comprises a circumferential securing groove positioned between the conduit harness system receiving portion and the common central portion, and wherein the wiring harness protection system interface comprises two circumferential grooves with a central rib between the two circumferential grooves for receiving the securing element;
- and
- the securing element separate from the main body and mounted externally around the wiring harness protection system interface, wherein the securing element is a cable tie or a conduit clip configured to clamp the wiring harness protection system to the wiring harness protection system interface by engaging at least one of the two circumferential grooves or the central rib.
A wiring harness connection system, comprising:
- a wiring harness system comprising a cable and a wiring harness protection system;
- an adaptor having a main body, the main body forming a wiring harness protection system interface and a conduit harness system interface, wherein the main body includes a common central portion connecting the conduit harness system interface and the wiring harness protection system interface, wherein the conduit harness system interface includes a conduit harness system receiving portion forming a conduit harness system fixing portion, the conduit harness system receiving portion having a smooth radial outer surface and a smooth internal surface and a circumferential securing groove positioned between the conduit harness system receiving portion and the common central portion, wherein the wiring harness protection system interface comprises two circumferential grooves with a central rib between the two circumferential grooves for receiving the securing element, and wherein the adaptor is configured to receive the wiring harness protection system at the wiring harness protection system interface;
- the securing element separate from the main body and mounted externally around the wiring harness protection system interface, wherein the securing element is a cable tie or a conduit clip configured to clamp the wiring harness protection system to the wiring harness protection system interface by engaging at least one of the two circumferential grooves or the central rib;
- and
- a conduit harness system configured to receive the conduit harness system interface of the adaptor.
A method for connecting, adapting and securing a wiring harness system to a conduit harness system, comprising:
- providing an adaptor, the adaptor having a main body including a first portion, wherein the first portion is a conduit harness system interface configured to be connected to a conduit harness system, and a second portion, wherein the second portion is a wiring harness protection system interface configured to be connected to a wiring harness protection system;
- wherein the main body includes a common central portion connecting the conduit harness system interface and the wiring harness protection system interface, wherein the conduit harness system interface includes a conduit harness system receiving portion forming a conduit harness system fixing portion, the conduit harness system receiving portion having a smooth radial outer surface and a smooth internal surface and a circumferential securing groove positioned between the conduit harness system receiving portion and the common central portion, wherein the wiring harness protection system interface comprises two circumferential grooves with a central rib between the two circumferential grooves for receiving the securing element;
- providing the wiring harness system, the wiring harness system comprising a cable and a wiring harness protection system surrounding the cable, wherein the conduit harness system comprises an conduit harness system interface and forms an opening for receiving the adaptor and the cable;
- providing the securing element separate from the main body and mounted externally around the wiring harness protection system interface, wherein the securing element is a cable tie or a conduit clip configured to clamp the wiring harness protection system to the wiring harness protection system interface by engaging at least one of the two circumferential grooves or the central rib;
- leading the cable of the wiring harness system through the adaptor in direction to the conduit harness system;
- attaching and connecting the cable to the conduit harness system;
- plugging the conduit harness system interface of the adaptor into the opening of the conduit harness system;
- pulling the wiring harness protection system over the wiring harness protection system interface of the adaptor;
- and
- securing the wiring harness protection system with the securing element at the wiring harness protection system interface of the adaptor.
