Plasma magneto-inertial fusion arrangement that compensates for timing variations among pulsed power-driven electromagnetic particle accelerators

A method for controlling electromagnetic particle accelerators, the method comprising:

• receiving an input for triggering multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators to discharge simultaneously;
• determining digital timing offsets between triggers of the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators to cause simultaneous convergence of outputs of the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators at a convergence point, wherein the digital timing offsets are determined based on corresponding trigger breakdown times for multiple solid-state switch arrays coupled with the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators;
• and
• transmitting, based on the digital timing offsets, trigger signals to the multiple solid-state switch arrays configured to control the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators, wherein the trigger signals are configured to trigger the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators to converge the outputs at the convergence point.

A digital control apparatus comprising:

• multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators;
• and
• a digital control system configured to:
• determine operational parameters for the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators, wherein the operational parameters comprise one or more output direction vectors and one or more output velocities of the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators;
• determine digital timing offsets between triggers of the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators based on the operational parameters for simultaneous discharge, wherein the digital timing offsets are determined based on corresponding trigger breakdown times for multiple solid-state switch arrays coupled with the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators;
• and
• trigger the multiple electromagnetic particle accelerators according to the digital timing offsets to cause the simultaneous discharge.
