Abstract
Gaming systems and methods that provide randomly triggered payline specific symbol replacement features for plays of a slot game, wherein when the system or method randomly determines to provide the payline specific symbol replacement for that payline for a play of the slot game, the system or method can replace a non-winning symbol displayed along that payline adjacent to a winning symbol combination with a replacement symbol such as a wild symbol.
Claims19
An electronic gaming machine comprising:
- a housing comprising an access door;
- a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing, that monitors the access door, and that causes a signal to be sent to a remote server when the access door is opened;
- a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing;
- a plurality of input devices comprising:
- a player tracking device, a plurality of input buttons mounted on a deck supported by the housing, and a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device;
- a processor supported by the housing;
- and
- a trusted memory device supported by the housing and configured to provide a gaming regulatory authority a root trusted authority that can be tracked and verified as original, the trusted memory device storing a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
- cause a display, by a display device, of a plurality of reels, the plurality of reels comprising a plurality of different symbols;
- cause a display, by the display device, of a plurality of the symbols on the plurality of reels;
- cause a display, by the display device, of a plurality of different paylines associated with the plurality of reels;
- cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a positive determination of a payline specific symbol replacement for a selected payline of the plurality of paylines;
- cause a display, by the display device, of a replacement of a displayed symbol along the selected payline with a replacement symbol, the displayed symbol being along the selected payline adjacent to a combination of displayed symbols along the selected payline wherein the combination of displayed symbols may be or may not be a winning symbol combination;
- and
- cause a display, by the display device, of no other replacements of any of the plurality of displayed symbols along any of the other paylines except for the selected payline.

- cause a display, by the display device, of a plurality of different paylines associated with the plurality of reels;
- cause a display, by the display device, of a plurality of the symbols on the plurality of reels, said display comprising for each one of the plurality of different paylines, a combination of randomly determined symbols along the payline and a first randomly determined symbol along the payline adjacent to and after the combination of randomly determined symbols along the payline and that is not part of the combination of randomly determined symbols along the payline;
- cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a player selection of one of the paylines for specific symbol replacement for that selected;
- and
- cause a display, by the display device, of a replacement of the first randomly determined symbol along the selected payline with a first replacement symbol, wherein the first replacement symbol causes a winning combination of symbols along the selected payline.

- a housing comprising an access door;

- cause a display, by the display device, of a plurality of the symbols on the plurality of reels;
- and
- for each of a plurality of selected ones of the paylines but not all of the paylines:
- cause a display, by the display device, of a combination of randomly determined symbols along that selected payline and a first randomly determined symbol along that selected payline adjacent to and after the combination of randomly determined symbols along that selected payline;
- cause a display, by the display device, of an indication of a positive determination of a payline specific symbol replacement for that selected payline;
- cause a display, by the display device, of a replacement of the first randomly determined symbol along that selected payline with a first replacement symbol along that selected payline, wherein the first replacement symbol forms a winning combination of randomly determined symbols along that selected payline;
- and
- cause a display, by the display device, of no other replacements of any of the plurality of displayed symbols along any of the other paylines except for the plurality of the selected paylines.
