There are provided a gaming machine and method that utilize game-logic circuitry and a presentation assembly configured to present a plurality of symbol-bearing reels, an array, and a plurality of persistent elements. The plurality of reels are spun and stopped to land symbols in the base array. In response to the landed symbols including at least one accumulation symbol, an animation of addition of the accumulation symbol to one of the plurality of persistent elements is presented. A random determination whether or not to trigger one or more game features is made. Triggered game features are implemented, wherein the implementation includes designating a subset of the positions in the array as associated with each of the triggered game features and conducting a free spin bonus game during which rules associated with each of the triggered game features are applied when certain symbols land in their respective designated locations.
A method of operating a gaming machine, the gaming machine including game-logic circuitry, a presentation assembly, a first memory storing an authentication program and a trusted authentication code, and a second memory storing game-execution code and programming for a random number generator (RNG) configured to cycle continuously in the background between play cycles and during play cycles at a speed that cannot be timed by a player, the method comprising the operations of:
