Cross-channel wagering game tournaments

A system comprising:

• a mobile device located remotely from a casino and connected to a first gaming network;
• an electronic gaming device located in the casino and connected to a second gaming network different from the first gaming network;
• an omni channel tournament controller;
• a processor circuit;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor circuit, the memory comprising machine-readable instructions that, when executed by the processor circuit, cause the processor circuit to:
• receive, from the omni-channel tournament controller via a network, a request to participate in a wagering game tournament from the mobile device;
• determine eligibility for the mobile device to participate in the wagering game tournament based on a player account associated with a player of the mobile device;
• after determining the mobile device is eligible to participate in the wagering game tournament, receive a first tournament entry for the wagering game tournament from the mobile device via the omni-channel tournament controller;
• receive a second tournament entry for the wagering game tournament from the electronic gaming device via the omni-channel tournament controller;
• determine in real-time while the electronic gaming device and the mobile device remain connected to the omni-channel tournament controller a game result for the wagering game tournament based on the first tournament entry and the second tournament entry;
• and
• in response to the game result being a winning game result for the mobile device, provide a game award to the mobile device associated with the winning game result.

A method comprising:

• receiving, by a processor circuit from an omni-channel tournament controller via a network, a request to participate in a wagering game tournament from an electronic gaming machine located in a casino;
• determining, by a processor circuit, eligibility for the electronic gaming machine to participate in the wagering game tournament based on a player account associated with a player of the electronic gaming machine;
• after determining the electronic gaming machine is eligible to participate in the wagering game tournament, receiving, by the processor circuit, a first tournament entry for the wagering game tournament from the electronic gaming device via the omni-channel tournament controller;
• receiving, by the processor circuit, a second tournament entry for the wagering game tournament from a mobile device located remotely from the casino via the omni-channel tournament controller;
• determining, by the processor circuit in real-time while the electronic gaming device and the mobile device remain connected to the omni-channel tournament controller, a game result for the wagering game tournament based on the first tournament entry and the second tournament entry;
• and
• in response to the game result being a winning game result for the electronic gaming device, providing, by the processor circuit, a game award to the electronic gaming device associated with the winning game result.
