Augmented reality mood board manipulation

A computer-implemented method for manipulating a gallery of extended reality (XR) media items, the method comprising:

• causing display of the gallery of XR media items in a field of view of a head-worn device via a near eye display of the head-worn device, a position and orientation of each XR media item in the gallery of XR media items being defined in a gallery frame of reference defined with respect to an anchor user interface element, the gallery of XR media items being arranged in an amphitheater layout comprising curved rows of XR media items that increase in height with distance from a viewpoint of a wearer of the head-worn device;
• detecting a pinch gesture performed by a user's hand at a perceived location of the anchor user interface element;
• determining user motion input by tracking movement of the user's hand while the pinch gesture is maintained;
• and
• based on the user motion input, moving the perceived location or orientation of the gallery of XR media items in the field of view of the head-worn device while maintaining relative positions and orientations of the XR media items to each other in the gallery frame of reference, and further wherein moving the perceived location or orientation of the gallery of XR media items comprises moving the position of the anchor user interface element in a real-world frame of reference such that each XR media item in the gallery undergoes a corresponding translation in the real-world frame of reference that varies based on a distance of each respective XR media item from the position of the anchor user interface element.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations for manipulating a gallery of extended reality (XR) media items, the operations comprising:

• causing display of the gallery of XR media items in a field of view of a head-worn device via a near eye display of the head-worn device, a position and orientation of each XR media item in the gallery of XR media items being defined in a gallery frame of reference defined with respect to an anchor user interface element, the gallery of XR media items being arranged in an amphitheater layout comprising curved rows of XR media items that increase in height with distance from a viewpoint of a wearer of the head-worn device;
• detecting a pinch gesture performed by a user's hand at a perceived location of the anchor user interface element;
• determining user motion input by tracking movement of the user's hand while the pinch gesture is maintained;
• and
• based on the user motion input, moving the perceived location or orientation of the gallery of XR media items in the field of view of the head-worn device while maintaining relative positions and orientations of the XR media items to each other in the gallery frame of reference, and further wherein moving the perceived location or orientation of the gallery of XR media items comprises moving the position of the anchor user interface element in a real-world frame of reference such that each XR media item in the gallery undergoes a corresponding translation in the real-world frame of reference that varies based on a distance of each respective XR media item from the position of the anchor user interface element.
