Dynamic, efficient, and continuous generation and dissemination of implied dispersion index values

A method for generating and disseminating dispersion index data implemented via an exchange computer system, the method comprising:

• receiving, by an order entry port and from a computing device connected to the exchange computer system via a computer network, one or more orders associated with a particular index, wherein the exchange computer system comprises an order routing system configured to route the one or more orders according to a respective destination associated with the one or more orders;
• selecting, by an index engine of the exchange computer system and for a particular period of time, a subset of instruments comprising a plurality of component instruments from the particular index, wherein the selecting is based on the one or more orders, wherein the index engine comprises a first index engine processor configured to operate in a parallel processing mode in which the index engine is configured to operate in parallel with the order routing system and the order entry port;
• obtaining, by the computer network communicatively coupled to the index engine, volatility data for the subset of instruments;
• generating, by the index engine, for the particular period of time and from the volatility data, the dispersion index data based on a weighting value for each of the plurality of component instruments, and a component instrument volatility for each of the plurality of component instruments;
• and
• transmitting, by the exchange computer system, the dispersion index data to a plurality of user computing devices that are connected to the exchange computer system via the computer network.

A method for generating and disseminating dispersion index data implemented via an exchange computer system, the method comprising:

• receiving, by an order entry port and a computing device connected to the exchange computer system via a computer network, one or more orders associated with a particular index, wherein the exchange computer system comprises an order routing system configured to route the one or more orders according to a respective destination associated with the one or more orders;
• selecting, by an index engine of the exchange computer system and for a particular period of time, a subset of instruments comprising a plurality of component stock options-instruments from the particular index, wherein the selecting is based on the one or more orders, wherein the index engine comprises a first index engine processor configured to operate in a parallel processing mode in which the index engine is configured to operate in parallel with the order routing system and the order entry port;
• obtaining, by the computer network communicatively coupled to the index engine, return data for the subset of instruments;
• generating, by the index engine, for the particular period of time and from the return data, the dispersion index data based on a weighting value of each of the plurality of component instruments and a return of each of the plurality of component instruments from the return data;
• and
• transmitting, by the exchange computer system, the dispersion index data to a plurality of user computing devices that are connected to the exchange computer system via the computer network.
