Abstract
A cloud-based service creates and maintains custodial digital wallets for parties to value transfers. Each wallet funded by the corresponding party with cryptocurrency and/or a fiat currency. The cloud-based service provides value transfers between two parties having custodial wallets without any on-chain blockchain operations making such transfers nearly instantaneous. The cloud-based service also provides transfers between one party with a custodial wallet and another party without a custodial wallet by using a liquidity wallet and/or a liquidity account to perform the transfers nearly instantaneously and by initiating any needed blockchain operations on the blockchain to properly reflect any debit or redemption made from the liquidity wallet on the blockchain.
Claims15
A method, comprising:
- registering a party to a custodial digital wallet;
- obtaining initial value funds for the custodial digital wallet;
- wherein obtaining further comprises:
- moving a fiat currency from a private account of the party to a liquidity account based on the initial value funds;
- moving cryptocurrency from a private digital wallet of the party to a liquidity wallet associated with the custodial digital wallet using a blockchain;
- and
- maintaining a ledger for the custodial digital wallet, the liquidity wallet, and the liquidity account;
- receiving a request from the party to perform a transfer of a portion of the initial value funds to a second party;
- performing a transfer of the portion of the initial value funds by updating the ledger and a second ledger maintained for the second party without performing any blockchain operations associated with the blockchain, wherein the second ledger is associated with the liquidity wallet, the liquidity account, and a second custodial wallet of the second party;
- receiving an acknowledgement from the blockchain that an on-chain cryptocurrency transfer was initiated on the blockchain and crediting the second custodial wallet with the portion of the initial value funds before confirmation is received back from the blockchain that the on-chain cryptocurrency transfer completed successfully;
- and
- maintaining updated versions of the ledger and the second ledger based on the transfer of the portion of the initial value funds moved to the second custodial wallet of the second party.
A method, comprising:
- registering a first party to a first custodial digital wallet;
- obtaining first value funds as fiat currency from a first private account of the first party;
- obtaining second value funds as cryptocurrency from a first private wallet of the first party;
- moving the first value funds to a fiat liquidity account;
- moving the second value funds to a liquidity wallet using a blockchain;
- presenting the first value funds and the second value funds as initial value funds within a first custodial wallet associated with the first party;
- maintaining a ledger for the fiat liquidity account, the liquidity wallet, and the first custodial wallet;
- receiving a request from the first party to perform a transfer of a portion of the initial value funds to a second party;
- performing a transfer of the portion of the initial value funds by updating the ledger and a second ledger maintained for the second party without performing any blockchain operations associated with a blockchain, wherein the second ledger is associated with the liquidity wallet, the fiat liquidity account, and a second custodial wallet of the second party;
- receiving an acknowledgement from the blockchain that an on-chain cryptocurrency transfer was initiated on the blockchain and crediting the second custodial wallet with the portion of the initial value funds before confirmation is received back from the blockchain that the on-chain cryptocurrency transfer completed successfully;
- and
- maintaining updated versions of the ledger and the second ledger based on the transfer of the portion of the initial value funds moved to the second custodial wallet of the second party.
A system, comprising:
- a cloud comprising a plurality of servers;
- each server comprising at least one processor and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions;
- the executable instructions when executed by a corresponding processor cause the corresponding processor to perform operations comprising:
- maintaining custodial digital wallets for registered parties;
- maintaining cryptocurrencies in a liquidity wallet;
- maintaining fiat currencies in a liquidity account;
- maintaining a ledger for the custodial digital wallets, the liquidity wallet, and the liquidity account;
- funding the custodial digital wallets through fiat currency obtained from private accounts of the registered parties and moving the fiat currency obtained to the liquidity account;
- funding the custodial digital wallets through cryptocurrency obtained from private wallets of the registered parties and moving the cryptocurrency from the private wallets to the liquidity wallet using a blockchain;
- processing value transfers between the custodial digital wallets of the registered parties by updating the ledger and updating specific funds shown in the custodial digital wallets without performing any operations on the blockchain;
- receiving acknowledgements from the blockchain that on-chain cryptocurrency transfers were initiated on the blockchain and crediting corresponding custodial digital wallets with corresponding value funds before confirmations are received back from the blockchain that the on-chain cryptocurrency transfers completed successfully;
- and
- establishing channels between the registered parties for particular value transfers.
