Abstract
Disclosed are methods and systems to manage and limit, by the development of a flow equalization equation, the amount of total input flow capacity within a network among three or more identical consuming members connected on a common distribution network. An objective of this method, and systems implementing the method, is to minimize the maximum input flow volume, such that, any number of consumers devices may operate at full consumption while other consumers are operating at less than full consumption.
Claims22
A method for managing consumption of resources by a plurality of consumption devices interconnected by way of a common distribution network, the method comprising the following steps:
- arranging the plurality of consumption devices so as to be interconnected by way of the common distribution network configured to provide a respective amount of the resources to each of the consumption devices, at least one of the consumption devices having an input flow detector associated with the respective consumption device, an output flow detector associated with the respective consumption device, and a regulator for setting a permitted amount of resources available to be consumed by the respective consumption device;
- selecting a plurality of management boundary levels for the common distribution network, each management boundary level corresponding to a different permitted proportion of resources the corresponding regulator of a consumption device may be set to;
- and
- for each consumption device having a regulator:
- calculating a consumer flow value as a ratio of the output flow detector indication and the input flow detector indication;
- and
- setting the regulator to a permitted proportion of resources selected by determining its corresponding least management boundary level which is still greater than the consumer flow value.
A method for managing consumption of resources by a plurality of consumption devices interconnected by way of a common distribution network, the method comprising the following steps:

- selecting a plurality of management boundary levels for the common distribution network, each management boundary level corresponding to a different permitted proportion of resources the corresponding regulator of a consumption device may be set to;
- and
- for each consumption device having a regulator:
- calculating a consumer flow value as a ratio of the maximum consumption limit of the consumption device and the input flow detector indication;
- and
- setting the regulator to a permitted proportion of resources selected by determining its corresponding least management boundary level which is still greater than the consumer flow value.
