Abstract
A storage device is disclosed. The storage device may include storage for data. A controller may manage writing the data to the storage and reading the data from the reading storage. A data quality metric table may map a first number of errors to a first data quality metric and map a second number of errors to a second data quality metric. A transmitter may return the data quality metric table to a host.
Claims20
A storage device, comprising:
- storage media for a data;
- a controller to manage access to the data in the storage media;
- a data structure to associate a first property with a first quality metric and to associate a second property with a second quality metric;
- and
- a transmitter to return the data structure.
A method, comprising:
- determining, by the storage device, a target quality metric for a data stored on the storage device;
- selecting, by the storage device, a first module from the first module and a second module based at least in part on the target quality metric;
- and
- applying, by the storage device, the first module to the data, producing a modified data.
An article, comprising a non-transitory storage medium, the non-transitory storage medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by a machine, result in:
- determining, by the storage device, a target quality metric for a data stored on the storage device;
- selecting, by the storage device, a first module from the first module and a second module based at least in part on the target quality metric;
- and
- applying, by the storage device, the first module to the data, producing a modified data.
