System and method for orchestrating user interaction illumination of adaptive capacitive sensor pads based on a current usage input mode at a capacitive split contactless keyboard

A split keyboard structure of an information handling system having a keyboard sensing hardware structure formed under a sealed input surface comprising:

• a hardware processor, a data storage device, and a power management unit (PMU) within a keyboard chassis to provide power to the hardware processor and data storage device;
• a capacitive sensing microprocessor operatively coupled to the keyboard sensing hardware structure that includes a plurality of capacitive sensor pads having a capacitive sensing field formed in a capacitive pads layer formed under a sealed input surface of the keyboard sensing chassis to detect capacitive changes from user interaction on or above a removable tactile input layer installed onto the sealed input surface and in the capacitive sensing field of at least one capacitive sensor pad;
• the keyboard sensing hardware structure including a grounding layer and an active shielding layer between the plurality of capacitive sensor pads and the grounding layer;
• a host microprocessor to execute machine readable code instructions of a regional capacitive pad gesture sensing orchestration system to receive an initial detected capacitive change level from a first user interaction in the capacitive sensing field to determine between when a user input is capacitively detected in a first capacitive change level range for a touch input mode and in a second capacitive change level range for a touchless gesture input mode at one of a plurality of capacitive sensor pads;
• and
• the host microprocessor to execute machine readable code instructions to orchestrate emission of light through the removable tactile input layer, via a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) coplanar with the capacitive pads layer, to indicate a first interactive illumination feedback for user touch inputs capacitively detected in a touch input mode and a second interactive illumination feedback for user touchless gesture inputs capacitively detected in a touchless gesture input mode.

A split keyboard structure of an information handling system having a keyboard sensing hardware structure formed under a sealed input surface comprising:

• a hardware processor, a data storage device, and a power management unit (PMU) within a keyboard chassis to provide power to the hardware processor and data storage device;
• a capacitive sensing microprocessor operatively coupled to the keyboard sensing hardware structure that includes a plurality of capacitive sensor pads having a capacitive sensing field formed in a capacitive pads layer formed under a sealed input surface of the keyboard sensing chassis to detect capacitive changes from user interaction on or above a removable tactile input layer installed onto the sealed input surface and in the capacitive sensing field of at least one capacitive sensor pad;
• the keyboard sensing hardware structure including a grounding layer and an active shielding layer between the plurality of capacitive sensor pads and the grounding layer;
• a host microprocessor to execute machine readable code instructions of a regional capacitive pad gesture sensing orchestration system to receive an initial detected capacitive change level from a first user interaction in the capacitive sensing field to determine between when a user input is capacitively detected in a first capacitive change level range for a touch input mode and in a second capacitive change level range for a touchless gesture input mode at one of a plurality of capacitive sensor pads;
• and
• the host microprocessor to execute machine readable code instructions to orchestrate emission of light through the removable tactile input layer, via a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) co-located at the capacitive pads layer, to provide a first interactive illumination feedback indicating user touch inputs are capacitively detected with the keyboard sensing hardware structure operating in a touch input mode, and to provide a second interactive illumination feedback indicating user touchless gesture inputs are capacitively detected with the keyboard sensing hardware structure operating in a touchless gesture input mode.
