Apparatus and method for implementing O-cloud node C-state change

A method of managing power consumption of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) cloud (O-Cloud) node comprising:

• obtaining, by a federated O-Cloud orchestration and management (FOCOM) within a service management orchestration (SMO) framework, a request or guidance to configure a C-state of a central processing unit (CPU) of an O-Cloud node;
• sending, by the FOCOM via an O2 interface, a configuration for the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node to an infrastructure management service (IMS) based on the request or the guidance to configure the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node, wherein the configuration relates to modification of the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node;
• and
• receiving, by the FOCOM via the O2 interface, a notification of the C-state modification of the CPU of the O-Cloud node.

A method of managing power consumption of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) cloud (O-Cloud) node comprising:

• receiving, by an infrastructure management service (IMS) via an O2 interface, a configuration for a C-state of a CPU of an O-Cloud node from a federated O-Cloud orchestration and management (FOCOM) to configure the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node, wherein the configuration relates to modification of the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node;
• applying, by the IMS, the configuration of the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node to modify the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node;
• and
• sending, by the IMS via the O2 interface, a notification of the C-state modification of the CPU of the O-Cloud node to the FOCOM.

A system for managing power consumption of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) cloud (O-Cloud) node, the system comprising:

• a federated O-Cloud orchestration and management (FOCOM) within a service management orchestration (SMO) framework;
• and
• an infrastructure management service (IMS),
• wherein the FOCOM is configured to:
• obtain a request or guidance to configure a C-state of a central processing unit (CPU) of an O-Cloud node, and
• send, via an O2 interface, a configuration for the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node to the IMS based on the request or the guidance to configure the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node, wherein the configuration relates to modification of the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node;
• and
• wherein the IMS is configured to:
• apply the configuration to the CPU of the O-Cloud node to modify the C-state of the CPU of the O-Cloud node, and
• send, via the O2 interface, a notification of the C-state modification of the CPU of the O-Cloud node to the FOCOM.
