System and method for customizing noise abatement departure procedures

A method, comprising:

• displaying on a display device onboard an aircraft, prior to take-off while the aircraft is on the ground, at least one noise abatement departure procedure (NADP) page, wherein the NADP page comprises:
• a page title indicating the NADP page includes NADP-related parameters, wherein the title includes at least the term NADP or noise abatement,
• an NADP selection section simultaneously displaying multiple selectable activators including an NADP1 activator, an NADP2 activator, and a custom NADP activator selectable by a user,
• wherein the NADP page comprises a combination of elevation section, a thrust section, and a speed section depending on which NADP activator is selected,
• wherein the NADP page is arranged with labeled input fields stating which parameter is to be placed or displayed in the input fields so that:
• when the NADP1 is selected, no speed section is provided and the elevation section displays an NADP start (NS) thrust reduction altitude input field and a NADP end (NE) altitude input field, and
• the thrust section displays an NADP N1 input field that provides alternatives of computed by the FMS, climb, and manual as a title of the input field in % N1,
• when the NADP2 is selected, the elevation section displays an NS NADP speed transition altitude input field and the NADP NE altitude input field, and
• the thrust section displays an NADP thrust at flaps up input field with the N1 input field that provides the same alternatives as for the NADP1 thrust section, and
• a speed section provides alternatives of manual and safety single engine speed (Vse) with an input field,
• when the custom NADP is selected, the elevation section displays an NS thrust reduction altitude input field and an NE climb speed transition altitude input field, and
• the thrust section displays an NADP thrust input field with the N1 input field that provides the same alternatives as for the NADP1 thrust section, and
• a speed section provides an NADP speed gear up input field with alternatives of manual and safety single engine speed (Vse), and
• wherein at least one of the input fields on the NADP page is arranged to receive an NADP parameter value from a user after display of the at least one input field;
• receiving the NADP parameter value from a user via an interface that provides the NADP parameter value to be entered into the at least one input field;
• and
• loading the NADP parameter value as part of a customized NADP into a flight management system (FMS) to have the aircraft fly automatically according to the customized NADP.

An aircraft, comprising:

• at least one display device within the aircraft;
• a flight management system (FMS);
• at least one user interface;
• and
• processor circuitry forming at least one processor communicatively coupled to the at least one display device, the FMS, and the at least one user interface, the at least one processor arranged to operate by:
• displaying, prior to take-off while the aircraft is on the ground, at least one noise abatement departure procedure (NADP) page, wherein the NADP page comprises:
• a page title indicating the NADP page includes NADP-related parameters, wherein the title includes at least the term NADP or noise abatement,
• an NADP selection section simultaneously displaying multiple selectable activators including an NADP1 activator, an NADP2 activator, and a custom NADP activator selectable by a user,
• wherein the NADP page comprises a combination of elevation section, a thrust section, and a speed section depending on which NADP activator is selected,
• wherein the NADP page is arranged with labeled input fields stating which parameter is to be placed or displayed in the input fields so that:

• the thrust section displays an NADP thrust input field with the N1 input field that provides the same alternatives as for the NADP1 thrust section, and
• a speed section provides an NADP speed gear up input field with alternatives of manual and safety single engine speed (Vse), and
• loading NADP parameter values input into at least one of the input fields by a user as part of a customized NADP into the FMS to fly the aircraft automatically according to the customized NADP.
