Abstract
An optical stack with additional edge seals, electronic displays incorporating the same, and methods for providing the same are disclosed. The optical stack includes a plurality of layers including an electronic display layer and a polarizer. A plurality of edge seals are provided for the plurality of layers. The edge seals may each include a deposit of adhesive, which may be spaced apart.
Claims9
A method for providing an optical stack with an additional edge seal, said method comprising:
- providing an optical stack comprising a plurality of layers joined by a primary edge seal;
- and
- providing an additional edge seal for the plurality of layers, wherein the additional edge seal is spaced apart from the primary edge seal, wherein providing the additional edge seal comprises:
- providing the deposit of adhesive at the edge of each of the plurality of layers;
- and
- passing a tool having at least three sides along the edge of each of the plurality of layers to smooth the deposited adhesive such that a first side of the at least three sides of the tool extends over part of a top surface of the plurality of layers, a second side of the at least three sides of the tool extends over a lateral side edge of the plurality of layers, and a third side of the at least three sides of the tool extends over part of a bottom surface of the plurality of layers.
