Abstract
A high resolution RF system is provided herein in which the resolution of a legacy target detection system is improved without any change to the existing hardware of the legacy target detection system. Rather, postprocessing can be implemented to achieve the improvements in resolution.
Claims20
A target detection system, the system comprising:
- a receiver configured to receive a radio frequency (RF) echo signal that reflected off of a target in response to transmission of an RF waveform;
- a processor in communication with the receiver and configured with specific computer-executable instructions to:
- process the RF echo signal and the RF waveform to form a first output;
- process the RF echo signal and a structured random permutation of the RF waveform to form a second output;
- combine the first output and the second output to form a high resolution waveform;
- and
- cause a display to plot the high resolution waveform on a graph.
A computer-implemented method for detecting a target, the computer-implemented method comprising:
- as implemented by a target detection system comprising physical hardware,
- processing an RF echo signal that reflected off of a target in response to transmission of an RF waveform and the RF waveform to form a first output;
- processing the RF echo signal and a structured random permutation of the RF waveform to form a second output;
- combining the first output and the second output to form a high resolution waveform;
- and
- causing a display to plot the high resolution waveform on a graph.
Non-transitory, computer-readable storage media comprising computer-executable instructions for detecting a target, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by a target detection system, cause the target detection system to:
- process an RF echo signal that reflected off of a target in response to transmission of an RF waveform and the RF waveform to form a first output;
- process the RF echo signal and a structured random permutation of the RF waveform to form a second output;
- combine the first output and the second output to form a high resolution waveform;
- and
- cause a display to plot the high resolution waveform on a graph.
