Peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) in a subject is reduced during a magnetic resonance imaging scan of the subject using a magnetic resonance system (1) having three physical gradient axes. The magnetic resonance imaging scan is planned by selecting an imaging protocol and positioning a field-of-view of the scan obliquely through the subject. An estimate of the PNS for the planned magnetic resonance imaging scan is determined. A gradient polarity of at least one logical gradient axis of the scan that is not parallel to any of the physical gradient axes is inverted, and an estimate of the PNS for the magnetic resonance imaging scan with the inverted polarity is determined. The gradient polarity which has the lowest PNS is selected. The magnetic resonance imaging scan is performed on the subject with the selected gradient polarity.
A method for reducing peripheral nerve stimulation in a subject during a magnetic resonance imaging scan of the subject using a magnetic resonance system having three physical gradient axes, the method comprising:
A magnetic resonance imaging system having three physical gradient axes and being configured to perform a magnetic resonance imaging scan on a subject in which a field-of-view of the scan is positioned obliquely through the subject such that at least two logical gradient axes of the scan are not parallel to any of the physical gradient axes,
