Corrosion estimation method and device

A corrosion estimation device comprising:

• a particle size measuring instrument comprising a storage container, a dryer, and a particle size measurer, the storage container configured to store a sample of soil obtained from a vicinity of a steel material buried in the soil, the dryer configured to dry the sample of soil in the storage container, and the particle size measurer configured to measure a particle size of soil;
• a color measuring instrument comprising a spectrophotometer, the spectrophotometer configured to measure a color measurement value related to a color of the sample of soil;
• and
• an estimation circuit comprising a processor and a memory, the memory storing a program that, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to estimate corrosion of the steel material based on the particle size and the color measurement value.

A corrosion estimation method comprising:

• obtaining a sample of soil from a vicinity of a steel material buried at a location;
• storing the sample of soil in a storage container;
• drying the sample of soil in the storage container;
• measuring a particle size of the sample of soil using laser diffraction;
• measuring a color measurement value related to a color of the sample of soil using a spectrophotometer;
• and
• estimating corrosion of the steel material based on the particle size and the color measurement value.
