Abstract
Systems for delivering explosives including homogenizing agents and methods of delivering explosives including homogenizing agents are provided. Methods of mixing homogenizing agents with emulsion matrices are also provided. The methods can include supplying an emulsion matrix, mixing a homogenizing agent with the emulsion matrix into a mixed product, and homogenizing the mixed product into a homogenized product. The homogenized product can be sensitized and/or conveyed to a blasthole.
Claims20
A method of delivering explosives comprising:
- supplying an emulsion matrix from a first reservoir, said emulsion matrix comprising a continuous fuel phase and a discontinuous oxidizer phase;
- supplying a homogenizing agent from a second reservoir;
- conveying the emulsion matrix and the homogenizing agent to a mixer;
- mixing the homogenizing agent with the emulsion matrix with the mixer to produce a mixed product;
- homogenizing the mixed product into a homogenized product;
- sensitizing the homogenized product;
- and
- conveying the sensitized product to a blasthole.
A method of delivering explosives comprising:
- supplying an emulsion matrix from a first reservoir, said emulsion matrix comprising a continuous fuel phase and a discontinuous oxidizer phase;
- supplying a homogenizing agent from a second reservoir;
- conveying the emulsion matrix and the homogenizing agent to a homogenizer:
- homogenizing the emulsion matrix and the homogenizing agent with the homogenizer to produce a homogenized product;
- sensitizing the homogenized product;
- and
- conveying the sensitized product to a blasthole.
A method of delivering explosives comprising:
- supplying an emulsion matrix from a first reservoir, said emulsion matrix comprising a continuous fuel phase and a discontinuous oxidizer phase, wherein the emulsion matrix as supplied from the first reservoir is substantially devoid of a homogenizing agent;
- supplying the homogenizing agent from a second reservoir, wherein the homogenizing agent is selected from at least one of sorbitan monooleate, sorbitan dioleate, sorbitan trioleate, sorbitan sesquioleate, sorbitan diisostearate, oleic acid, oleic acid TEA, oleic acid/stearate TEA, adipic DEEA, adipic TEA, animal fats, lard, PIBSA, PIBSA derivatives, dicarboxylic acids, dimerized fatty acids, trimerized fatty acids, and vegetable oil;
- conveying the emulsion matrix and the homogenizing agent to a homogenizer:
- homogenizing the emulsion matrix and the homogenizing agent with the homogenizer to produce a homogenized product;
- sensitizing the homogenized product;
- and
- conveying the sensitized product to a blasthole.
