Abstract
A door control system is provided. The control system includes a controller configured to control a door via a motor. The system may accept any input signal and transform the signal to a suitable input signal for the components of the system. The controller may receive commands to actuate the motor to effect movement in the door. The controller may transmit control signals to the motor and adjust the control signals based on the current speed. The system may include a switching element which may create a short circuit condition at motor terminals to effect braking. The system may include a feedback loop to adjust control signals sent to the motor.
Claims19
A power supply agnostic method of operating a door control system having a motor coupled to a door, the method comprising:
- connecting an input voltage source providing an input voltage signal to said door control system, said door control system comprising inputs for two or more of an input DC voltage source, an AC input voltage source, and/or a 3-phase AC input voltage source;
- transforming, by a power supply circuit, said input voltage signal to a transformed DC signal having a magnitude suitable for a controller and an encoder coupled to said motor of said door control system;
- receiving, at said controller, a target speed for moving said door;
- receiving, at said controller, a command for moving said door in a first direction;
- effecting movement of said door, wherein effecting movement of said door comprises:
- transmitting a control signal to actuate said motor;
- receiving, at said controller, from said encoder coupled to said motor, a current speed;
- adjusting, by said controller, said control signal based on said target speed and said current speed;
- and
- transmitting said adjusted control signal to said motor.
A power supply agnostic door control system comprising:
- a door;
- a motor coupled to said door;
- an encoder coupled to said door;
- a controller configured to:
- receive a command to move said door;
- transmit a control signal to actuate said motor to effect movement of said door;
- receive a current speed of said door from said encoder;
- adjust said control signal based on said current speed and a target speed;
- and
- transmit said adjusted control signal to said motor;
- inputs for two or more of an input DC voltage source, an AC input voltage source, and/or a 3-phase AC input voltage source;
- a power supply circuit configured to transform an input voltage signal selected from one of said input DC voltage source, said AC input voltage source, and said 3-phase AC input volage source to a transformed DC signal having a magnitude suitable for said controller and said encoder.
