Abstract
Biodegradable friction reducers, fracturing fluid compositions containing friction reducers and methods for treating subterranean formations with friction reducers, wherein the friction reducers are a mixture of xanthan and guar gum having a weight ratio of about 3:97 to about 20:80. The friction reducer finds particular applicability in a slickwater fluid for the treatment of low permeability reservoirs.
Claims5
A method of slickwater fracturing a subterranean reservoir comprising continuously pumping into the reservoir an aqueous fluid at a pressure sufficient to create or enlarge a fracture in the subterranean reservoir wherein the permeability of the subterranean reservoir is from about 10 nanodarcies to less than or equal to 1.0 mD and further wherein the aqueous fluid is void of a synthetic polymer and comprises a mixture of xanthan and guar gum and, optionally, a biopolymer, and the weight ratio of xanthan to guar gum in the aqueous fluid is from about 3:97 to about 25:75.
