Abstract
The present invention relates to methods for the detection, identification and use of one or more bioactive agents obtained from extracellular matrix in the presence of one or more cells, such as one or more cell-signalling polypeptides, and said bioactive agents. Research, diagnostic and therapeutic methods utilising such bioactive agents are also provided.
Claims11
A method of modulating stem cell recruitment in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises or consists of:
- (a) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 1 to 188 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (b) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 31 to 188 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (c) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 1 to 177 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (d) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 31 to 177 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (e) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 1 to 170 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- or
- (f) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 31 to 170 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto.
A method of modulating tissue repair in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide comprises or consists of:
- (a) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 1 to 188 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (b) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 31 to 188 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (c) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 1 to 177 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (d) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 31 to 177 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- (e) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 1 to 170 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto;
- or
- (f) the amino acid sequence set forth in amino acid residues 31 to 170 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or an amino acid sequence at least about 95% identical thereto.
A method of modulating stem cell recruitment in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a mammalian Decorin polypeptide fragment comprising a means for eliciting cellular chemotaxis or cellular recruitment.
