Abstract
A selectively child-resistant cap assembly for a container having a container body and a container lip can include a metal inner cap configured to couple with the container body and a metal outer cap coupled to the inner cap. Each of the inner and outer caps can include a top and a shoulder. A first coupler can be coupled to the inner cap and a second coupler can be coupled to the outer cap for selectively engaging one another. A third coupler can be coupled to the outer cap. The cap assembly can be selectively coupled with the container body in a first closure position, wherein the inner cap is rotatably coupled with the container body, or a second closure position, wherein the top of the outer cap is disposed within the container body and the third coupler is coupled with the container lip.
Claims6
A selectively child-resistant cap assembly for a container having a container body with a central longitudinal axis, a base. an open top and a radially inwardly protruding container lip, the cap assembly comprising:
- a metal inner cap configured to couple with the container body and a metal outer cap coupled to the inner cap, wherein the inner cap is disposed at least partially within the outer cap and wherein each of the inner and outer caps has a top with a top surface and a bottom surface and a shoulder with a top surface and a bottom surface;
- a first coupler coupled to the inner cap and a second coupler coupled to the outer cap, the first and second couplers being configured to selectively engage one another;
- and
- a third coupler coupled to the outer cap, wherein at least a portion of the third coupler is disposed longitudinally between the top of the outer cap and the shoulder of the outer cap and extends radially outwardly from an exterior surface of the outer cap;
- wherein the cap assembly is configured to be selectively coupled with the container body in a first closure position wherein the inner cap is rotatably coupled with the container body and the top of the outer cap is disposed upwardly;
- wherein the cap assembly is configured to be selectively coupled with the container body in a second closure position wherein the top of the outer cap is disposed within the container body and the third coupler is coupled with the container lip;
- wherein the second coupler is coupled to a plate;
- and
- wherein at least a portion of the plate is disposed longitudinally between the inner and outer caps.
A selectively child-resistant cap assembly for a container having a container body with a central longitudinal axis, a base, an open top and a radially inwardly protruding container lip, the cap assembly comprising:
- a metal inner cap configured to couple with the container body and a metal outer cap coupled to the inner cap, wherein the inner cap is disposed at least partially within the outer cap and wherein each of the inner and outer caps has a top with a top surface and a bottom surface and a shoulder with a top surface and a bottom surface;
- a first coupler coupled to the inner cap and a second coupler coupled to the outer cap, the first and second couplers being configured to selectively engage one another;
- and
- a third coupler coupled to the outer cap, wherein at least a portion of the third coupler is disposed longitudinally between the top of the outer cap and the shoulder of the outer cap and extends radially outwardly from an exterior surface of the outer cap;
- wherein the cap assembly is configured to be selectively coupled with the container body in a first closure position wherein the inner cap is rotatably coupled with the container body and the top of the outer cap is disposed upwardly;
- wherein the cap assembly is configured to be selectively coupled with the container body in a second closure position wherein the top of the outer cap is disposed within the container body and the third coupler is coupled with the container lip;
- wherein one of the first and second couplers comprises a through opening and/or a groove;
- and
- wherein the other of the first and second couplers comprises a tongue configured to selectively engage the through opening and/or groove.
A selectively child-resistant cap assembly for a container having a container body with a central longitudinal axis, a base, an open top and a radially inwardly protruding container lip, the cap assembly comprising:
- a metal inner cap configured to couple with the container body and a metal outer cap coupled to the inner cap, wherein the inner cap is disposed at least partially within the outer cap and wherein each of the inner and outer caps has a top with a top surface and a bottom surface and a shoulder with a top surface and a bottom surface;
- a first coupler coupled to the inner cap and a second coupler coupled to the outer cap, the first and second couplers being configured to selectively engage one another;
- and
- a third coupler coupled to the outer cap, wherein at least a portion of the third coupler is disposed longitudinally between the top of the outer cap and the shoulder of the outer cap and extends radially outwardly from an exterior surface of the outer cap;
- wherein the cap assembly is configured to be selectively coupled with the container body in a first closure position wherein the inner cap is rotatably coupled with the container body and the top of the outer cap is disposed upwardly;
- wherein the cap assembly is configured to be selectively coupled with the container body in a second closure position wherein the top of the outer cap is disposed within the container body and the third coupler is coupled with the container lip;
- wherein one of the first and second couplers comprises a groove that has a rotationally leading side and a rotationally trailing side in a clockwise direction;
- wherein the other of the first and second couplers comprises a tongue that has a rotationally leading side and a rotationally trailing side in a clockwise direction;
- wherein the leading side of the tongue is configured to engage the leading side of the groove for coupling the cap assembly to the container body;
- and
- wherein the trailing side of the tongue is configured to engage the trailing side of the groove for uncoupling the cap assembly from the container body.
