Vehicle control device for applying a one pedal control mode

A vehicle control device comprising a processor configured to:

• apply a one pedal control mode that can execute acceleration of a vehicle as well as deceleration of the vehicle by braking according to an operation amount of an accelerator pedal,
• apply a speed control mode that automatically controls a speed of the vehicle, and
• when the speed control mode is canceled while the one pedal control mode and the speed control mode are applied:
• determine whether an elapsed time from when the speed control mode is canceled is within a deceleration limit period;
• upon determination that the elapsed time is within the deceleration limit period, set an absolute value of deceleration or a deceleration change rate of the vehicle generated in response to the operation amount of the accelerator pedal in accordance with the one pedal control mode to a first value;
• and
• upon determination that the elapsed time is not within the deceleration limit period, set the absolute value of deceleration or the deceleration change rate of the vehicle generated in response to the same operation amount of the accelerator pedal in accordance with the one pedal control mode to a second value larger than the first value.
