Abstract
The disclosed concept relates generally to a tubular composite structure for the intake, storage, and conveyance of gaseous or liquid media, including but not limited to hydrogen, hydrocarbons, and non-hydrocarbons, and related methods for manufacture. The tubular composite structure consists of one or more cannular assemblies, each composed of multiple layers of sealing, reinforcement, sensing and monitoring components, pressure injected fluids, and over-molded structural and protection layers.
Claims29
A mobile onsite factory (“MOF”), comprising:
- a forming mandrel;
- an axial layer station configured to apply axial reinforcement material on a cannular assembly, the axial layer station disposed along the forming mandrel and comprising one or more applicators;
- one or more spools configured to provide axial reinforcement material to the one or more applicators;
- and
- one or more rollers disposed between the one or more spools and the axial layer station, the one or more rollers structurally configured to redirect axial reinforcement material from the one or more spools into an orientation substantially parallel to the forming mandrel,
- wherein at least one of the one or more spools is disposed at a different lateral position along the forming mandrel than the axial layer station,
- wherein the one or more spools are located upstream of a supported end of the forming mandrel.
