Abstract
Embodiments of the invention provide a cutting tool. The cutting tool includes a pin that defines an axis, a first jaw, a second jaw, a first blade, and a second blade. The first and second jaws are configured to rotate about the axis. The first jaw includes a first ear surface that has a first ear bore that is dimensioned to receive the pin. The second jaw includes a second ear surface rotationally engaged with the first ear surface and includes a second ear bore that is dimensioned to receive the pin. The blades can include a tapered face and a non-tapered face. The first and second ear surfaces can be coplanar with the respective non-tapered face.
Claims15
A cutting tool head for a power tool, the cutting tool head comprising:
- a hollow pin defining an axis;
- a first jaw configured to rotate about the axis, the first jaw including a first clamp having a first face and a second face, and a first ear having a first ear surface, the first ear surface having a first bore extending therethrough;
- a second jaw configured to rotate about the axis, the second jaw including a second clamp having a third face and a fourth face, and a second ear having a second ear surface, the second ear surface rotationally engaged with the first ear surface and having a second bore extending therethrough;
- a first blade having a first flat portion and a first taper, the first blade mounted on the first jaw via a first blade mount bolt;
- and
- a second blade having a second flat portion and a second taper, the second blade mounted on the second jaw via a second blade mount bolt,
- the first face of the first clamp contoured to follow and extend along a first edge defined between the first flat portion and the first taper of the first blade, the first edge including a first linear portion and a first curved portion, and
- the third face of the second clamp contoured to follow and extend along a second edge defined between the second flat portion and the second taper of the second blade, the second edge having a second linear portion and a second curved portion.
A cutting tool head for a power tool, the cutting tool head comprising:
- a first jaw including a first ear having a first ear surface;
- a second jaw including a second ear having a second ear surface, the second ear surface rotationally engaged with the first ear surface;
- a first blade coupled to the first jaw and defining a first edge where a first flat portion adjoins a first taper that defines a first cutting edge;
- a second blade coupled to the second jaw and defining a second edge where a second flat portion adjoins a second taper that defines a second cutting edge;
- a first clamp coupled to the first flat portion and including a first clamp face that extends parallel to the first edge;
- and
- a second clamp coupled to the second flat portion and including a second clamp face that extends parallel to the second edge.
